Deacon Salvatore Bonfiglio was ordained by Bishop Paul G. Bootkoski on June 6, 2015. Originally from New York, he and his wife Melody have been Hillsborough residents and parishioners of Mary, Mother of God since 1996. They have two young adult sons, Andrew and Thomas.
Sal is a professed Third Order Franciscan, and is actively involved with the Franciscan community’s various ministries. He holds graduate degrees in both Pastoral and Systematic Theology and is currently employed full-time in a corporate manager role. Sal provides spiritual counseling to people in prisons. He also serves as the Catholic Chaplain at the Carrier Clinic, a mental health and addictions facility.
Melody supports Deacon Sal in his ministry work and parish responsibilities. She is active in the local Columbiettes, parish Altar Rosary Society, and teaches religious education.
