Each year our parish has a Giving Tree to benefit local families and charities. Last year almost 800 cards were put on the tree.
The Giving Tree program is designed to bring Christmas joy to the needy while providing parishioners the opportunity to practice and promote Christian charity.
Each year on the weekend before Thanksgiving, a Christmas tree is placed in the gathering space. The tree is adorned with "ornament" cards bearing the details of a specific gift request. Requests are provided by several local charitable organizations including the Parish, Hillsborough Social Services, Catholic Charities, St. Vincent de Paul, SHIP (the Samaritan Homeless Interim Program), the Center for Great Expectations, and Anderson House. Parishioners select a card from the tree, buy the item, and return it to the church by the date requested. Volunteers make the cards in early November and then sort, pack and deliver the gifts to the organizations on the designated date.
