Our Lord told St. Faustina, "I desire that during these nine days you bring souls to the fountain of My mercy, that they may draw ... strength and refreshment and whatever grace they need in the hardships of life, and especially at the hour of death" (Diary, 1209)*.
Jesus also said, “My daughter, tell the whole world about My inconceivable mercy. I desire that the Feast of Mercy be a refuge and a shelter for all souls, and especially for poor sinners. On that day the very depths of My tender mercy are open. I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who approach the fount of My mercy... The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion on this day shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment… Let no soul fear to draw near to me, even though it’s sins be as scarlet.” (Diary, 300)*.
St. Pope John Paul II established that Divine Mercy Sunday be enriched by a plenary indulgence which you may receive by attending any Mass with the intention of receiving His great mercy, as well as following the directives outlined below.
