Our goal is to keep team sizes consisting of approximately 10-12 players each. In cases where it is necessary to make some hard decisions to meet this goal, we will consider 1) parishioner status, and 2) existing vs. new member. New registrants may be placed on a waiting list. We will communicate with families that are potentially impacted as soon as possible, but ask you to understand that the registration process is fluid so we may not have all of the information readily available. Please be patient as we work through the creation of teams and attempt to give every child an opportunity to play if at all possible. Team formation for Grades 4 through 8 will occur around November 1. The Diocese of Metuchen sets the schedule and releases it around Thanksgiving. Please check the CYO website for updated information.
Please let your friends and neighbors know that we are accepting registrations and we need additional coaches. We appreciate your help and patience as we work through this process. The last thing we want to create is disappointment for you or the children that this program serves.
We look forward to a great season of basketball with you and your children!
Thank you,
Mary, Mother of God CYO Board
Catholic Youth Organization (CYO)The CYO organization provides recreational basketball activities to the children of Mary, Mother of God Church while reinforcing our Catholic values. We are dedicated to the youth of the Parish by serving children in grades 1 through 12. Over 40 teams of boys and girls play in CYO Basketball Leagues. There are also many children who participate in the Junior Saints program; a weekly skills clinic for grades 1 and 2. In addition to league play, the group runs the Turkey Classic Tournament for our Parish and select additional other Parish teams. The CYO provides college scholarships and has established the Saints Foundation for charitable donations. Over the years, other projects have included the Cancer Awareness, The Dan Grigal Foundation, Food Drive for the Hillsborough Township Pantry, Diabetes Awareness, Great Strides for Cystic Fibrosis, and the Mary, Mother of God Church Capital Fund. |
